Happy Hogswatch to anyone sad enough / dedicated enough to be on LT today. I'm only here long enough to drink a mug of tea between episodes of slaving over a hot stove. Infinitely preferable to watching Barbie, which is what the rest of the family are doing.
One of my younglings got me A stroke of the pen for Hogswatch. When I get the chance to open it, I'll be interested to see how its contents escaped the steamroller.
For alternative Hogswatch television viewing, may I suggest Troll Bridge, e.g. at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7v_TdLviUE

>1 Cynfelyn: Happy Hogswatch! We are pretty subdued in our celebrations today due to part of the family being away due to illness.

>1 Cynfelyn: just finished a stroke of the pen certainly shows the beginnings of his talent , dry humor, and unusal characters, and clever plots but none of the really grabbed me, tho I laughed at many esp "wanted a fat jolly man in a red wooly hat" and "how scrooge saw the spectral light and went happily back to humbug" the quest for the key, the story that got people searching for others is probably my favorite .Loved the forward by Neil Gaiman and the intro by Colin Smith with background of how the stories were discovered.
well worth reading
was able to get ultimate discworld companion on Kindle so I can actually read it, filled of course with descriptions of stories. characters and places, plus Paul Kirbys illustrations A great addition to anyones collection. A little disappointed not in the content, but in the difficulty to look up pieces in an index or to easily jump from section to section I didnt want to read it from a-z of 400+ pages. Im suspecting that reading the text is easier, tho waay too tiny print makes that difficult for me A I may just have to use the hard copy to look for segments I wanted to read and go to kindel for the rest. But if you are a fan, youll want this book

>5 dfmorgan:
That feels like a rip-off, though they supposedly only found this after the hardback was a done deal. Who knows.
