This is a bit hard for me Andrew. I have read a lot of Crime Fiction in 2023 but I am not sure that a lot of it fits our categories.

For example- espionage. I discovered the Slough House series by Mick Herron- wonderful writing and of course Apple have a top rated TV show based on these books.
I have been catching up on the Bryant and May series by Christopher Fowler and loving his take on the London tourists will not know.

One series new to me that might fit our criteria is by H.L Marsay, the first of which is called A Long Shadow. These are police procedurals and set in the gorgeous city of York, beautifully evoked. However they may only be available in e book format whicch is how i got hold of them.

Happy reading for 2024

>2 Maura49: Espionage definitely fits within mystery and suspense, because for me thrillers also fit into this. I’m still to get to those Mick Herron books but they are on my TBR. So is Christopher Fowler 😂 Too many books too little time. I’ve not heard of the H L Marsay books or even the author, will need to check it out.

By all means share any books even if they don’t fit mystery and suspense.

Hope you have many new favourites in 2024.

My best find of 2023 was the ‘Date with…’ series by Julia Chapman: Disgraced undercover London cop, Samson, returns home to the Yorkshire Dales desperate to prove his innocence; there, feisty farmer’s daughter, Delilah, has her own struggles…

I’m up-to-date with the series, with one due 2024, Date with Justice; apart from that, I don’t necessarily have anything planned (but that’s the way I always work, ☺️).
