Why do you think the girl Kim went to help in her street was so aggressive with her?

The girl packed a lot of attitude. Her attitude was like a second skin: grown to keep something out. It didn’t just appear for no reason.

I think the girl is used to being treated roughly and hasn't been able to build any trust. Kim was probably just like her as a young girl.

Looks like she is fighting against the world! A massive chip on her shoulder and major defensiveness.

I agree with all of the comments and again note an ability to empathise displayed by Kim which seems to stem from a sense of fellowship with the girl
