I'm reading a graphic novel about the life of Betrand Russell, Logicomix: An Epic Search for Truth by Apostolos Doxiadis. It came up when I was searching for Greek authors at my library.

Also want to get further along in The Postcard by Anne Berest.

I’m in. Reading The Ilias, The Bee Sting Revolution Song (why does LT come up with a quite different book ‘The Hamster Revolution’ in the touchstones? Weird)

I’m at home with a bout of flu something, so time to read.

Friday report
Books read from: Penelopiad: The Myth of Penelope and Odysseus by Margaret Atwood. Discord of Gods by Jenn Lyons. I am listening to Coral Thief by Rebecca Stott and Britt-Marie Was Here by Fredrik Backman.

Books finished: Songs of Willow Frost by Jamie Ford and Discord of Gods

Book Thoughts: I spent the week reading Discord of Gods and finished it this morning with my coffee. I really liked this epic fantasy series. The world building was outstanding and the characters well done. The plot hung together through all five books and most of all the last book had an ending that made sense. That is very rare in the world of epic fantasy. The books are long, but the reward is good. I started listening to the recorded books that I brought home with me and listened while I was writing the thank you notes for the Memorial gifts and to those who brought food for the funeral lunch. It worked quite well and allowed me to listen to Songs of Willow Frost in three days. I enjoy Jamie Ford's books and this one was quite good and perfect for listening to while writing the same note over and over. I started listening to a Fredrik Backman book because, like the books by Jamie Ford, I generally like Backman's books and so far Britt-Marie Was Here hasn't disappointed me. It has just the right touch of humor and seriousness that makes it perfect for listening.

Non-Book activities: coffee with the community this morning.

Time reading: 1 hour this morning
Time posting:
Food: yogurt and granola with blackberries for breakfast along with some very good coffee.

Saturday morning update:

I finished Nina Balatka, but that's all the reading I've done so far this weekend. I made blueberry white chocolate chip muffins with streusel topping for breakfast, and they just may be the best muffins I've ever had. I'm getting ready to drop Adrian off at the groomer and then shop for a new entertainment center.

I'm in, and hoping to get a solid 10 hours in. But I doubt it'll help me finish anything ... have too many open reads just now, so will be flitting between books, all really well-written: Mozart, Hidden Figures, Poopie Suits & Cowboy Boots, The Struggle for Sea Power: A Naval History of the American Revolution, and the only one that's not a history or memoir, Rise of the Federation: Tower of Babel. With three more books queued up behind this, and ANOTHER three due back to the library by the end of the month ... I think I've succumbed to too much eagerness! But enough dawdling: gotta get reading! Have fun everyone!! Happy Lunar New Year!

Saturday report
Books read from: Susan, Linda, Nina, and Cokie: The Extraordinary Story of the Founding Mothers of NPR by Lisa Napoli. Chateau Under Siege by Martin Walker. Loki's Ring by Stina Leicht. I am listening to Coral Thief by Rebecca Stott and Britt-Marie Was Here by Fredrik Backman.

Books finished: Songs of Willow Frost by Jamie Ford. Discord of Gods by Jenn Lyons. Penelopiad: The Myth of Penelope and Odysseus by Margaret Atwood.

Book Thoughts: I finished several books yesterday and so started several more today. My main squeeze this weekend is Chateau Under Siege by Martin Walker. This is the newest title in the Bruno Courreges series and I am reading it as part of the mystery series group read. I should have read it last fall, but it was always checked out of the library and I finally got it about two weeks ago. I hope to finish reading it this weekend.

Non-Book activities: It was a busy day. I went to an author talk at our local library. Then I went to our community center this afternoon to hear two Vietnam veterans talk about their Honor Flight trip to Washington, D. C. It was a fund raising event for the local Delta Kappa Gamma retired teacher's educational scholarship fund. It was a great time and many many people from the community were there. Tonight I am going out for pizza with my sister to a locally owned pizzeria.

Saturday night update:

I've read several chapters of Poseidon's Gold this evening. I haven't had as much reading time as I had hoped today. This afternoon I took Adrian to a grooming appointment, then shopped for a new TV and console while I waited. I didn't find anything, so I continued searching online when I got home. The console has been ordered, and I'll order the TV in a few days so that they'll arrive at about the same time. Then I did my taxes. I also cooked some turkey and rice for Adrian. My supper was leftover cheese quesadilla and salad from last night.

>22 avatiakh: I was supposed to read The Postcard last month but never managed to fit it in, Kerry, so I am definitely reading it this one! I hope you are finding it to be good reading. I know that Donna loved it.

Books read from: exclusively Someone Else’s Shoes.

Sunday afternoon update:

I finished the audio of Right Ho, Jeeves on the drive home from church, and I finished Poseidon's Gold over lunch. That gives me 3 completions so far this weekend. Sunday evening update.

I read from: The Bee Sting
Great Expectations
And Indemnity Only

Book thoughts: I finished part three of The Bee Sting Imelda’s story. It was pretty bleak. Part four is Dicky’s story, and I’m finding it hard to get involved with a new character.

Books read from: Susan, Linda, Nina, and Cokie: The Extraordinary Story of the Founding Mothers of NPR by Lisa Napoli. Chateau Under Siege by Martin Walker. Loki's Ring by Stina Leicht. I finished listening to Coral Thief by Rebecca Stott and Britt-Marie Was Here by Fredrik Backman.

Books finished: Songs of Willow Frost by Jamie Ford. Discord of Gods by Jenn Lyons. Penelopiad: The Myth of Penelope and Odysseus by Margaret Atwood. Coral Thief by Rebecca Stott.

Book Thoughts: I finally finished listening to Coral Thief by Rebecca Stott. It was one of the most boring recorded novels that I have listened to in a very long time. I think it is because the narrator had this soft sleepy voice that sounded boring. The plot was a solid mish mash of pieces that didn't seem to fit together.
I finished the book and still don't understand why Napoleon was in it. There were just too many plot lines that the author couldn't get to come together. The only reason why I finished it was that I am running short of recorded books to listen to in the car, so I have been trapped with this book for the last two weeks. I am enjoying Chateau Under Siege by Martin Walker. It is just mind candy and it makes me wish I could take a month's long vacation in the Périgord region of France.

Non-Book activities: Church activities all day and book discussion group in the afternoon. I am going to start baking King Cakes tomorrow. I hope I can find purple, green, and gold sprinkles for them, but if not I will improvise.

Time reading: 1 hour this morning
Time posting:

Time reading:

Monday wrap-up
Books read from: Susan, Linda, Nina, and Cokie: The Extraordinary Story of the Founding Mothers of NPR by Lisa Napoli. A Chateau Under Siege by Martin Walker. Loki's Ring by Stina Leicht. I am listening to Britt-Marie Was Here by Fredrik Backman.

Books finished: Songs of Willow Frost by Jamie Ford. Discord of Gods by Jenn Lyons. Penelopiad: The Myth of Penelope and Odysseus by Margaret Atwood. Coral Thief by Rebecca Stott. A Chateau Under Siege by Martin Walker

Book Thoughts: I finished reading A Chateau Under Siege this morning and, as always, enjoyed reading it. Bruno is a great hero to read about and France's Périgord region is a place that I would like to visit. I want to eat foi gras and all that other good food found in the region. This series is so much fun.

Non-Book activities: It was an in-service day at school so I had the neighbor kids all afternoon. We baked two King Cake's. I will let them take one to the church's Kids Club on Wednesday to share with the other kids. Our church doesn't do Lent and I am sure that most of the kids won't have ever eaten a King Cake. We put one naked baby in the first cake and put two naked babies in the second King Cake.
