The Inevitable Conflict by P. H. Lovering was published in Amazing Stories, December 1930 and January 1931, and the second part had the listing "By Paul H. Lovering, the author of When The Earth Grew Cold and The Color Out of Space, etc." Inevitably, this has led some to the conclusion that The Inevitable Conflict was a work of H. P. Lovecraft published under a pseudonym. https://www.gordonswebsite.net/hp-lovecraft/Did%20Lovecraft%20write%20The%20Inev... argues against it using what he calls "metrics", among other things. They don't seem like a particularly rigorous use of computation here, but it's also treated as one bit of evidence among several; I find his section about women and romance (and lack of in Lovecraft's stories) and the story's treatment of Mongols as particularly telling.
