Were you surprised to find out Mussolini didn’t like Hitler? Why do you think this was?

Hitler was unliked by a lot of leaders and other countries but he was most powerful and would kill you if you voiced your opinion out loud.

#1A has been deleted on my list of questions but here’s my answer: The leaders of countries who sided with the Germans were killed. They were all doomed when Germany lost the war.

I don't think a lot of leaders really liked Hitler but he wielded so much power, it made political sense to go along with his ideas.

Who in their right mind would like him if they hadn't been afraid of the results of not liking him.

This wasn’t a surprising revelation. As said above, who in their right mind would like the madman? Fear is the key…

Mussolini and Hitler shared the trait of all dictators, pride and arrogance. In the pecking order Mussolini was the underling of Hitler and Mussolini, being a dictator, needed to be number one, jealousy and dislike, add in fear was the result.

I don’t think this should be a big surprise. He jumped into bed with him for protection of what he had, the other option would have seen Italy invaded. Both wanted to be the alpha male and didn’t have the personality to play second fiddle to anybody.

I hadn’t known this, but am not surprised. As previously mentioned, he joined forces for his own benefit, but likely resented being the number two man. >6 JohnDBurke: is spot on!

I had always thought they had some mutual respect, but to know that Mussolini did not like Hitler was a revelation.
