I'm in, but not going to provide impressive hours this weekend - domestic tasks keeping from the fun, sadly. I'm plugging away at Poopie Suits & Cowboy Boots still, and began two new audio books this week, Conquerors: How Portugal Forged the First Global Empire and The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny and Murder, and would be delighted to finish all three ... but not enough waking hours. I shall see how it goes - only about 2h in so far!

Saturday, late afternoon.

Books:
Finished The Frozen River by Lawhon.
Now reading a suspense thriller,
Catch Me by Lisa Gardner.
I need a new audio book.
Read several fairy tales to my niece.

Lunch was Wendy’s burger and fries with my little niece.

Other activity: spent most of the day with my 7 yr old niece so I’m getting a late start reading. No more obligations this weekend so I’ll catch up!

Been a busy yard work weekend, not a lot of reading time.

Books started:
Silver Pigs by Lindsey Davis
Dragon Keeper by Robin Hobb

I am Pearl Ruling Silver Pigs, as I am approximately 50 pages in and I don't care what happens, nor anyone.

In comparison I picked up Dragon Keeper last night and read about 70 pages before I was too sleepy to continue.

Sunday night report
Books read from: Sing Them Home by Stephanie Kallos. Ends of the World: Volcanic Apocalypses, Lethal Oceans, and Our Quest to Understand Earth's Past Mass Extinctions by Peter Brannen. I am listening to Gone Again by James Gripando.

Books finished: Longmire Defense by Craig Johnson. Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty

Book Thoughts: I don't have TV in the Kansas house so I loaded up on recorded books before I left Alabama so I expect to get lots of "reading" done. I am spending the evenings knitting and listening to recorded books. I am also getting lots of reading done and have almost finished reading Ends of the World and am learning much about carbon dioxide and its effect on the planet.

Non-Book activities: I got the bed out of the van yesterday with the help of the neighbors. Set the bed up and made it. It looks great in the bedroom. I am now in the process of unpacking the boxed dishes and have a kitchen full of stuff all over the floor. I managed to make myself give the comforter set that was on the bed to Goodwill. I hated to do so because I loved that comforter, but the colors just won't work in this bedroom so I had to let go of it.

Time reading: 2 hours
Time posting:
Food: beef stew and peach upside down cake

Books finished: Stormbird
Pages read: 270-ish

Monday morning update:

Books read from: The Graveyard Book Graphic Novel, Vol. 2, Saga, Vol. 10, At First Spite

Books finished: 1–“The Graveyard Book”

Time reading: 2 hours

Food: Found myself wanting corned beef for some reason (!) Luckily, I had a can of corned beef hash in the pantry. So, had a tasty meal of hash topped with fried eggs. Still want cabbage and potatoes but I can get those this week.

Thoughts: “The Graveyard Book” was terrific.

Non-book activities: Online church, very good once I worked through technical difficulties. Watched some network shows—Resident Alien 3.5, Young Sheldon 7.5.

Monday morning wrapup

Books read from: Sing Them Home by Stephanie Kallos. Ends of the World: Volcanic Apocalypses, Lethal Oceans, and Our Quest to Understand Earth's Past Mass Extinctions by Peter Brannen. Walking the Trail: One Man's Journey Along the Cherokee Trail of Tears by Jerry Ellis. Lexus and the Olive Tree: Understanding Globalization by Thomas L. Friedman. I am listening to Gone Again by James Gripando.

Books finished: Longmire Defense by Craig Johnson. Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty. Ends of the World by Peter Brannen

Book Thoughts: I spent most of yesterday evening reading in Ends of the World and enjoyed the reading time so much, so finished the book this morning. It was a very good read. It read like a story and the scientific explanations were easy to understand. The lightbulb moment for me was the explanation of how the carbon cycle works and the length of time it takes to completion. That is where the big numbers and deep time come into play and the author's good explanation of those topics and why they are important to the story of mass extinction.

Non-Book activities: I am going to spend today unpacking and shelving dishes. My nephew is here and needs to take the dishes back with him when he leaves on Wednesday.

Time reading: 4 hours
Time posting:
Food: croissant and coffee for breakfast
