Any thoughts on this theory that Mussolini blackmailed and threatened the Catholic Church into silence leading up to and during WWII?

At the time The Catholic Church exerted influence among the Italian People and Mussolini knew he had to exert control over it.
If they believed he had Nostra Trinita he had the tool to keep them under control.

>2 JohnDBurke: Definitely a control thing to have the upper hand and prevent them interfering in what he was doing. Let’s be honest he did this well, whatever you think about him. It does explain the actions or lack of actions by the Catholic Church and the Pope during WWII

I think the Church was very nervous about Mussolini having the Nostra Trinita.

I'm sure they feared anything Mussolini was capable of.

As I’ve said earlier, I believe that document can harm the Church and anyone possessing it has tremendous leverage over them. Best case scenario is for them to find and destroy it, which is what Gallo and Spagno seem to be working toward

Everyone should have been leery of Mussolini. The Catholic Church up to his arrival on the scene was the most powerful entity on Earth...so of course the Church was worried.

It all sounds feasible. It appears the church in question has always done what was necessary to maintain its position and power.

Mussolini could see what the Catholic Church could do with and without his influence. Since he wanted to maintain control, blackmail and threats bought him their silence.
