I was not surprised. I had suspected him for the last two sections.

Early on I thought he would kill and replace his brother for the Conclave. But then I forgot that theory when everything became muddled. Too many bad guys popping up. I eventually returned to this theory in the last section we read, so I was waiting for it.

I was not surprised either...but it seemed that there were a host of bad guys running amuck in this story.

Not totally surprised, there was something off about him but not necessarily thought he’d kill his brother.

Not a complete surprise, TBH.
Kastor was ruthlessly ambitious, why wouldn’t his brother be? Though it does seem strange he’d want to be Pope rather than leading the Hospitallers. He must see the Pope as having more power; it certainly doesn’t seem to be a religious calling on his part.

Nope, I did not see this action coming. Both brothers were ruthless, but this was beyond what I expected.
