Do you think there will be any surprises when they get the document translated? Any initial thoughts?

I think people are a lot more skeptical about religious doctrine now then the were centuries ago. I would expect the Catholic Church would want to keep its secrets because at that time their best weapon was fear.

I think the document can damage the church in some way, but I don’t know how. I suspect i will be surprised by whatever it says.
However, it may not be as damaging as they think. With all the time that has passed, whatever it says may not be viewed as badly as they think—I have the impression that none of them know what it actually contains.

For centuries religion controlled the people. In some cases, it was stronger than the government or the law. In many cases it WAS the law. People have become a great deal more skeptical with the many, many ways that information can be obtained today.

Whatever it said it had to be damaging to the church to have wanted to keep it hidden all these years. Presumably exposed the church in some way and what they had been up to.

I can’t see the document being the Earth-shattering thing everyone is expecting - either that, or it’s going to be destroyed before it can be used.

>7 Sergeirocks: I'm with you - I'm worried that it will be destroyed before it is translated and gets publicized.
