US hurricane hunter aircraft receive much publicity for their data collection from within hurricanes, but dropsondes, not so much. In the recent 2025 record-breaking Hurricane Melissa, a US hurricane hunter plane did some on-site data collection as well, but few people heard that due to the US government shut-down, the government employees on board the plane did so despite being unpaid due to the shutdown ... a brutal situation.
