Did the police seem a bit blasé when first told about the missing girl?

The police seemed confused and not knowing where to begin to find the missing girl who was a foreign immigrant and one who would never complain.

I got the impression they were more budget and cost driven.

It didn't seem to be the most important thing they had to do that day, so yes >1 Andrew-theQM:, a bit blase'...and like >2 EadieB: said they really didn't know where to start. >3 JohnDBurke: also made good point...it's all about money and budgets.

Yes, even young DC Gregg, the person McLean first talked to certainly took a bit of persuading to take it seriously. I imagine this could be reflective of the culture within the police building.

It seems to be one of those days where too much is going on for an understaffed police service to deal with everything. The focus is on the March and possible trouble there.

This seemed far too blasé, in fact bordering on incompetent. This was a report of a young child being missing, would they have been so blasé if it wasn’t the child of an immigrant? Costs, budgets and lack of staff may be an issue but that is no excuse to not carrying out the core duties effectively.
