Was Tony wise to go into the room on his own, and without anyone knowing where he was? Could he have done things differently?

Not a wise thing to do without having some backup.

He arrived at the room through the pushing of the protestors and not on his own accord. He did try to connect support, but did not have cell phone coverage. It was somewhat of a risk, but not a great risk.

No...but then this is Tony. It's not the first time he's done this.

He was only making a preliminary inspection into a building that looked as though it’d been broken into. No need to think anything bad was hovering, (although, with McLean, one never knows…).
I was going to say it’s something any cop on the beat would probably have done, but even in the UK, I don’t think there’s such a thing as a ‘beat copper’ any more.

>4 Carol420: Yes, this seems like an action a somewhat maverick cop would undertake and there is something of that characteristic in McLean from what I have seen.

This was far from wise, what would he have said to an inexperienced policeman who did this! There was nothing urgent and he should have contacted base first, but then he shouldn’t have left base without a radio.
