Any thoughts on finding out the body has only been dead a few days, and not 20 - 30 years?

Definitely means that the body was recently killed.

Refereeing back to the opening narrative and the mummification of the body brings in an occult theme.

Okay...it does now have a supernatural, paranormal feeling. Even dry climates take a while for mummification to happen.

I thought it possible this was the girl that had just been reported missing by the sandwich man. As to the state of the body, I agree with all above, it suggests McLean is up against supernatural forces once again.

Like some others I wondered if this was the missing child. A shock to hear the effect on the child that led to this mistake. Certainly calls an occult element to it.
