About the killer's background story that he shared with Robert. Could an organization of trained killers like this actually exist in the United States of America?
I certainly hope that his story was the most fictional aspect of this entire book. It gave me chills. An entire approved squad of these killers...trained, approved and sent out by our or any government is unimaginable.

Carol, look up Operation Phoenix, took place between 1967-1972 in Viet Nam. Not the same as in the book, but was a clandestine operation.
