I just ran across another member @clue that has favorite authors shared with me, but zero books shared according to LT.
I was surprised at that, so I looked up her books by Kate Atkinson and found that I possess a number of those books. I can imagine that our ISBNs are different, or even titles, but not canonical titles.
What must be true for LT to agree that we share books.?

I don't think this is because of the ISBNs - I think this is to do with where the books are in one's catalog.
You can exclude collections from your connections (in the collections menu) and I think that only books in collections used for connections are used in the "Books you share" calculations... Or something else like that is coming into play - I also show 0 shared with clue even though if you go into Catalog mode, it finds that we share 86.

>3 AnnieMod: Thanks for that answer to my question.
I get 304 books shared with the first option and 298 shared with the second. As they say 'good enough for government work'.
I will use this idea in my future search for books shared, as I frequently have been puzzled by the standard LT answer. Just not as extreme as 0 books.

>4 JoeB1934: This discrepancy (298/304) is usually because of duplicates in one of the catalogs (so a works vs books thing) and how we count depending on which of the catalogs we are looking at.
PS: If you just click on someone's catalog (All collections is what I prefer to click), there will be a banner in the catalog that will get you to the shared books without the need to construct external URLs :)

>5 AnnieMod: Thanks for that tip, it saves work. By the way if I go to my page 'About You' there is a list of members that share books with me. Is that list created by the method you provide here?

>6 JoeB1934: The "Members with Your Books" section in "About you"? These are the "Similar Libraries" ones from the right menu of the Profile page. They are weighted in various ways and the numbers can be a bit weird (because they only get the connections numbers I think as well). When you click on one of them, it gets you to their library and you can use the same process to get to the shared books (we used to have a direct link but due to the works vs books numbers, the numbers were weird so they removed that).
You can look at anyone's library and it will show you the banner for the shared books between the two books. The Similar Library list just gives you a list of names to look at based on what you had cataloged (and had not cataloged) :)

>3 AnnieMod: >1 JoeB1934: Thanks for going to the trouble of finding out what is wrong. I knew there was something amiss a few weeks ago but didn't spend the time trying to figure out. One of the things that was funny was that it showed I shared 1 book with 8 people. When I looked at the title, it was the same title for all 8.
