It's July 1st! Here in Canada, we're celebrating our national holiday today.
What are your BC-related plans for July?

My main priority for July is finishing a new roundabout book that just arrived. Then, it's back to getting older books off my shelves.

I have read 2 - I was half way through one on the last day of June! We broke up for the Summer yesterday, so I will have more time and headspace to read. I am going to go for 7 - a lucky number! I have a few library books to read as well. December and July tend to be the months I buy most books, so going to try and curb that. Except, I say that every year!

I've been reading:
Reading Lolita in Tehran
Queer Judaism (sociology)
Listening Thnking Being -- Lispari (sophisticated, academic)
Babylonian Talmud
and part way thru various other books
I had an initial burst of enthusiasm about Bookcrossing, and I still love the idea, but it seems to have lost its momentum (a decade ago?) and I wish it would get serious about improving the platform in order to rebuild its network, i.e., active participants

>5 HCGray: I was a very avid member of BookCrossing for about 15 years but the pandemic and site issues have caused me to cut back my involvement. I have stopped registering books on the platform and only occasionally release books that I registered previously. Having said that, it's still a thrill to hear from a book that has been released. I had a catch a few weeks ago from a book I released in England when we were on holidays so that was nice. I also have to say that BookCrossers are some of the nicest people on the internet and I've made some good friends through the site.

I read 8 - I had a number of long bus journeys.
I also deliberately took away books I had had for a while.
I am lucky to have an active Bookcrossing community in my local area, that keeps things fresher.

>5 HCGray: I too am not so active with BookCrossing anymore, but I still participate in an annual BC roundabout, and registering and releasing books via BC gives me some incentive to get those dust collectors off my shelves.
>7 gypsysmom: >8 soffitta1: Good work for July! I have a long train journey coming up so I too will take advantage of the time to get through my stack of books.

In July, I finished my current Favourite Book of 2023 roundabout book, The Foundling by Stacey Halls. It was a good historical novel set in Georgian England. I read a bunch of other books too, but this is all the progress I made with my BC books.
