Joplin Meet Up Discussion

Our annual Joplin meet up is coming up soon. The question is how soon? Do we want to keep in October as we did last year? Do we want to go back to our original date right after Thanksgiving?

If we do meet up in October, do we want to keep it on the third Friday of the month? This year that would make it the 18th.

I hope someone besides me shows up because I do not want to be talking to myself. I can do that at home :)

Hi, Stasia. I'm here. I would prefer to keep the meet up in October because, just as last year, the time between Thanksgiving and my craft show the first Saturday in December is devoted to my kiln. At this point, I can do ANY day in October.

>2 ronincats: I think that if we are going to leave the meet up in October, rather that trying to come up with a day that is going to work for everyone (which in the end will probably not satisfy everybody anyway), why not just keep it to the third Friday of the month?

If we do October 18, I will arrive very late on Thursday or very early Friday morning, and I will have to leave first thing Saturday morning, but otherwise, that works. I did it last year.

Third week in October works for me. My moving date is October 15. That is tentative, but October isn't a big month for moving so I am confident that will be the date. I am planning on making the meet-up for both Friday and Saturday.

>6 benitastrnad: We only meet up on the one day, Benita. Terri and I typically arrive the night before and then leave immediately the morning after. I just do not want you to be mislead and think we meet up for multiple days.

That's good because I will be driving through on my way back to Kansas so I will be in Joplin on Friday night and then will leave on Saturday.

It looks like we are good for meeting up on Friday, October 18th. Unless I lost count, which is distinctly possible, this will be meet up number 15 for us!

Sadly, I'm not going to be able to make it on October 18. Other things have come up on Thursday and Friday night that I need to be here for. If I were to go, I'd have to leave home early on Friday and head home before lunch, and October is already kicking my behind. I'm sorry to miss it--send me a picture and have a great time!

I regret to inform all of you that I will not be able to be in Joplin next weekend. I am deep into moving and will be spending that weekend packing my house here in Tuscaloosa. I am sure that you will have fun and I will plan to see you next year.

>16 ronincats: So sorry I didn’t make it to Joplin. I had a bad reaction to my Covid shot and completely forgot about it. It’s awful getting old and forgetful. I’m also having eye problems (macular degeneration) and should probably stay off the interstate. My doctor for sure told me not to drive at night anymore.

I hope that whoever showed up had fun! I am slowly trying to get caught up on LT. I am behind in everything these days. 😞
