New to LibraryThing apologies! Is it possible rename some of the collections for purposes of my own classifications? And possible to add additional collections? Thank You 🙏

You cannot change the names of the set collections, but you can add your own collections.
Note that collections can get awkward to use when you have many. Tags are a lot more versatile for details. Books can have both multiple tags and multiple collections.

You cannot rename the default collections, but you can create new ones.
Click on the Collections tab in your catalog and then "Edit Collections". You should see the option to "Add Collection", and you can name the new one whatever you want.
Just adding - no need to apologize. If you don't ask the question, you'll never get an answer!

>4 DangerVK: App is very limited what you can do compared to on the site. For any serious editing, you're better off just doing it on desktop. In most cases, the app will just open the LT site on the phone/tablet to do the editing anyway. It's a companion app, useful for scanning books to add them and checking your catalogue when in bookstores and such.

BTW if you have a personal classification system you can use 'Other call number'.
You might want to consider using Overcat as your first source. Amazon works well for recent books, but the data on older books can be really poor. Also consider using member covers if you want them to remain stable.

You can also disable default collections that you aren't using

>3 lilithcat: Once I’ve created a new collection, can I rename it?

Yes.
Go again to the "edit collections" link. Open the triangle next to the collection's name, and you'll be able to change it.

There are several places you can get to "edit collections" and there's a known bug with one of them. Two of the places are on the Your Books tab and the Edit Book page. If you're using one of those, then try the other.
