This group is for questions about LibraryThinOne frequently asked question about LibraryThing is how old you need to be a member.
From the Terms of Service:
"For these reasons, all children under 13 are prohibited from using LibraryThing, and, unfortunately, all European Union children under 16 are prohibited from using LibraryThing."

>3 MarthaJeanne: isn't 14 years the cut date for children in EU? (actually it's messier: for example in Italy minors over 14 years old can access a social network without parent's consent, but in France the cutoff date is 15 years)

>4 .mau.: I copied that from the Terms of Service. Those are the LT rules based on their (lawyer's) reading of EU laws. Even if certain EU countries have other limits, LT doesn't allow EU children under 16.
The point isn't at what age the law allows children to join sites, but what sites are allowed to do with their data. "The EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) also severely restricts what information can be collected from children under 16." This way LT doesn't have to set up separate membership types.
