Boswell's Life of Samuel Johnson LL. D.: Help!

Heritage first published this in 1963 as 3 vols in a single slipcase (IIRC). They later reprinted it with each volume in its own slipcase. The Sandglass for that re-issue is Special Publication: S28. Can anyone tell me what year that re-issue was done? It is a NY issue.

(My copy of Bussacco's bibliography is not available to me right now.)

>1 Glacierman: Here's a page from the bibliography - there's a separate entry for each volume (each volume the same, of course).

Apart from a later Norwalk printing in 1993, these are the first and only entries for this title. Re: a single slipcase edition, might you be thinking of the 1938 LEC?

>2 GardenOfForkingPaths: Yes, likely that early version was LEC. That fits the copyright on the HC edition.
The entry above is the one I have. Thanks! I guessed mid- to late-60s based on when I was a member of HC.

>3 Glacierman: Your initial guess may have been right. Various eBay listings confirm two 3-volume Heritage Press editions as follows:

- 1963, New York, Sandglass Spl. Pub. S28, tan colour cloth bound with red spine labels and individually encased in black and white marbled slipcases.

- 1993, Norwalk Connecticut, Sandglass unnumbered, white/ light cream colour cloth bound in similarly coloured individual slipcase.

>4 mr.philistine: I have the '64 issue w/Sandglass SP:28. Although the copyright date is 1963, I wasn't sure that it wasn't a later issue.

And...it was late, very late....
