Earth's ring hypothesized

There may have been a ring of debris around Earth from about 466 million years ago, due to the breakup of an asteroid. Haven't read the whole thing, thought it was cool.

Yes, that's food for thought ... perhaps there's a connection between that event and Earth's moon of today.
