Personal Wiki?

I've seen other members mention posting lists of books in their 'personal wiki.' I believe I've found my own page on the wiki, and I want to use it to describe how this library works, what kind of materials we focus on, how to navigate the call number system we use, etc.

First of all, is this an allowed use of the wiki, or is there some prescribed information that is intended to be put on this page?

Secondly, if I am allowed to use the page for this purpose, I want to provide links. For example, I would hypothetically list: Anthologies, Biographies, Informational Non-Fiction, etc. and each of these sections has a link that someone can click on for more information about the kind of stuff we have in that section, what the call numbers look like for that section, a brief explanation of how the call numbers are generated, etc.

Can I create separate pages for this, or would that somehow be disruptive to other users/the way the wiki is intended to be used/etc.?

If I can create separate pages for use in my 'personal wiki,' how do I make new pages, and if not, how can I create links to specific parts of the page (by which I mean, when linking someone to a specific comment on LT, the link ends in #numbershere and that link takes you to the specific part of the page with that comment on it)?

I tried to look for these answers on the wiki itself, but the wiki seemed mostly to contain information about LT, and not about the LT wiki.

Thank you for any help with this!

>1 GraceCollection: I think the answer to all questions is yes.

Short answer:

You just use the url:
https://wiki.librarything.com/index.php/User:GraceCollection
and click on "create this page". And start editing it.

Subpages are created in a similar way:
https://wiki.librarything.com/index.php/User:GraceCollection/Whatever

And links internal to the page is made with standard wiki syntax. == for targets and sharp brackets for links.

>3 GraceCollection: You're welcome. I think I'm one of the power users of the wiki. I have a script that amongst other things check my export file against a list of tags:
https://wiki.librarything.com/index.php/User:Bnielsen/TagList

and a list of publishers:
https://wiki.librarything.com/index.php/User:Bnielsen/PublisherList

Feel free to take a look at my wiki pages for inspiration :-)
Comments are most welcome.

>4 bnielsen: Thank you! You have a lot of really nifty stuff. Once I tackle putting in all these books, I might try to figure out how to use scripts. Seems folks find them really useful.

Have you ever considered using your main page (User:Bnielson/) to make a sort of table of contents or guide to your subpages?

>6 bnielsen: Oh, sorry for the miscommunication! I saw the list of pages, I just meant something a little more descriptive, like if you broke them up into categories like 'tables of book data,' 'code,' 'personal' and then wrote a brief description of what each page is (which I do see on some of the pages already, just not until I click that page).

I'm trying to construct something like what I am describing on my own main page, but there aren't many pages to link yet!
