That's actually quite weird. It's just not credible that nobody noticed for all these years—one simply can't believe that. However, I also find it really difficult to believe that nobody has previously made a fuss about it. That goes completely against the British character down the years, surely? There are all sorts of things the British don't like to make a fuss about, but grammar, spelling, punctuation are NOT included ...
