Dear All,
could you please share with us if any direct access to all our tags are able from initial page of tinycat?

>1 BibliotecaJosepCosta: BibliotecaJosepCosta: Hi there!
Absolutely, happy to help. You can add a link to your TinyCat Home Page through your Home Page settings in Admin: https://www.librarycat.org/admin/settings/home.

1. Under "Content to show underneath the search box" select "Links."
2. Enter the Wording for your link, probably the name of your tag.
3. Enter the URL for that tag from your TinyCat search.*
4. Add another link if you want to.
5. Save Changes.

*You can get that URL for step 3 by either (a) searching for a book you know has that tag and then clicking the linked tag and copying the URL, or (b) replacing the "TAGHERE" in the following URL with the name of the tag you want to search: https://www.librarycat.org/lib/BibliotecaJosepCosta/search/tag/TAGHERE. If you go with option b, your multiple-word tags can be entered with a + in place of a space (e.g.,Literatura+nord-americana).

For example, if I wanted to link my patrons to my Folklore tag, I would go to https://www.librarycat.org/lib/ZephCraven/search/tag/folklore to make sure it looks right, copy the URL and enter it into my Links in my Home Page Settings with the wording "Folklore Books."

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you run into any issues!

Very best,
Zeph

>3 ZephCraven:

Zeph, thank you very much for your reply and sorry for the delay.
Your solution is very good and simple, but it is focused on finding the books for a specific tag.
What I was asking for was a link to the list of all tags.
This list seems to me to be only in LibraryThing, not in TinyCat. That's why I link to "thematic tags" on the HomePage: https://www.librarything.com/tags/BibliotecaJosepCosta
It's not a very good solution. The patron sees the entire list of tags, but if he chooses one and goes inside he cannot order the books. Then what he has to do is search for the tag in the “tag field" of the “Advanced search”. A bit complicated!

Another option may be to apply your bright solution then, once the patron has seen all the tags in the list. I think we will put the two links, the mine link and yours, one after the other

Thanks and regards

>4 BibliotecaJosepCosta: Not sure how it would look and work on TinyCat homepage, but perhaps it's worth mentioning there's a tag cloud among charts and graphs. Yours is at https://www.librarything.com/stats/BibliotecaJosepCosta/tagcloud .

I am happy to know about the "tag cloud" feature because we do the same - linking our tags on the LT Homepage to the TinyCat
https://www.librarycat.org/lib/ECCClibrary
https://www.librarything.com/catalog_tags.php?view=ECCClibrary&collection=-1

In our case, we have more than 1000 tags for all collections.
The maximum number on the Tag Cloud page is 1000. May I know how to retrieve and display all tags from our collections ? (indexed from day one (2018-2024))
https://www.librarything.com/stats/ECCClibrary/tagcloud

Thank you.

>6 ECCClibrary: From you catalogue, just click tags in the top row next to list/covers. That one is a full list, sortable alphabetically or by number of uses

Just a side note: I use the export as TSV file and have a script that checks my tags against a fixed list, so I don't use say Bicycles on one book and Bicycle or bicycle on another so as to confuse myself.
My list and considerations are embedded in a wikipage:
https://wiki.librarything.com/index.php/User:Bnielsen/TagList
(Currently hit by the "edits don't save" bug.)

>5 SandraArdnas: It's an elegant alternative, certainly. It is attractive to the user.
Anyway, it still has the same problem: the results are presented in LibraryThing, not in TinyCat. And then when the user has the register of the work he want on the screen, he cannot make order for a loan or on hold. In order to do this, he still needs to copy the data from the book into the TinyCat search box.
I'm afraid I'm asking the impossible. This "problem" with tag lists happens with any list (authors, titles, publishers,...) we request that it was in LibraryThing, not in TinyCat.
Thanks for your contribution

>9 BibliotecaJosepCosta: You can make an RSI (Recommended Site Improvements) thread, asking for the option to show a tag cloud on TinyCat and bring up results in TinyCat when clicking one of them. I seem to remember this being asked for before, so it might get enough support to bump the importance to developers.

>7 SandraArdnas: Thank you. Both links are pointing to the same list.

If the tag list in LT is linked and connect with records in TinyCat, library functions will be streamlined, our users will experience better, seamless service, and therefore will encourage them to explore and read.

This is just my thought and wish!
