Just finished The Apollo Murders by Chris Hadfield- basically a Cold War era spy thriller in an Apollo moon landing setting. Heavy on the technical, scientific details, but still held my attention.

I just finished the latest Jackson Brodie mystery by Kate Atkinson, Death at the Sign of the Rook. It’s been a long time since a new book, and it was worth the wait. Bonus- the audiobook was read by Jason Isaacs who played Brodie in the tv series.

>4 raidergirl3: Oh, I saw that a new book had come out. And yay for bonus Jason Isaacs.

Me, I'm reading Warrior girl unearthed by Angeline Boulley, a sort of sequel to Firekeeper's daughter. Multiple mysteries in this book, about how some Indigenous items came to be in the hands of private individuals, the disappearances of two young Indigenous women, and the murder of a white guy.

Recently finished Gutshot Straight. Entertaining enough in its way, although a touch too clever for me. I would recommend it to any Elmore Leonard fan.

This month in crime I've read McNally's Gamble, by Lawrence Sanders; and What Time the Sexton's Spade Doth Rust, by Alan Bradley.

>7 rabbitprincess: I thought the Flavia series had ended? How was it?

>8 raidergirl3: It's definitely a borrow rather than buy. I always enjoy Flavia's voice, but I couldn't fully suspend my disbelief for some plot elements.

>10 Cecilturtle: Yes, definitely fun!

I finished A lethal lady by Nekesa Afia: third in her series set during the Harlem Renaissance, though this one takes place in Paris. I like that the main character is still dealing with the events of the earlier books, rather than carrying on completely unphased. (You needn't have read the first two, I think -- I can't recall the details, and this book gave enough info for it all to make sense.)

Now reading The Benevolent Society of Ill-Mannered Ladies, which is more a linked collection of stories than a novel, each story involving one case that needs to be solved. I'm enjoying that it's an historical book featuring women who aren't married in their forties, which is good becuse this is definitely more a mystery than a romance.
