Any thoughts about the man in the window of Loch Henry Lodge? Who was the woman he had seen and hoped for? How is he connected with events?

I think the man in the window could have been Stuart Richter who has attended her wedding and had his eye on Kirsten.

I got the impression the man was an immigrant/refugee from some war-torn country.
Can only speculate about the woman, maybe Kirsten from the language college?

I wondered if they might be the couple from the wedding at the beginning of the book, only real connection I could see to an immigrant/ refugee.
