This is the thread for our November author Willa Cather. By my count she had 12 books published by Virago (as did October's author), and here is a list of her Virago titles:
A Lost Lady
My Antonia
The Professor’s House
Death Comes for the Archbishop
My Mortal Enemy
The Song of the Lark
O Pioneers!
Shadows on the Rock
Lucy Gayheart
Sapphira and the Slave Girl
One of Ours
Alexander’s Bridge
Cather was a Pulitzer prize winning author, probably best known for her novels of life on the Great Plains of America. She wrote about frontier and pioneer life, although her work had a wider range than this. She's still highly regarded nowadays, particularly for giving the immigrant population a voice.
There are plenty of interesting titles to choose from, so do let us know what you're planning to read and leave any comments on your reading of Willa Cather during November - we'll look forward to hearing from you!

I plan to read Alexander's Bridge, her first, very short, novel.

I plan to read The Song of the Lark, although my copy is not a Virago edition 😕

I will be dipping into her short stories, as I've read all the novels now.

I've read her first three on the list, I'm going to try Death Comes for the Archbishop, I hope I can finish before the end of November.

I'm very much enjoying the short stories. Cather is so good at capturing and portraying characters with all their flaws.

I am still working on The Song of the Lark. It's not grabbing me like her other works have, but I'm sticking to it, although it may take a while.

I have just borrowed The Song of the Lark from a library and intend to read it after I finish reading The Yellow Brick Road by Elizabeth Cadell
