History of Classification Schemes

Hello - I'm new to LibraryThing and thought this might be a good place to go to find an answer to my question:

Is anyone aware of a research book or paper on the history of classification schemes? I know we're all familiar with LoC, Dewey, and UDC - I'm looking for something that combines those with Aristotle and Linneas precedents, zoological and botanical classifications, medicine (ICD, ICTV), industry (SIC, NAICS), etc. I've got Sorting Things Out (Bowker, Star), which has led me to this more general question.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Bill

Posting a question on the Talk: page of this Wiki article might raise some hints?

Not specific to your search, but possibly giving tantalizing hints, Judith FlandersA Place for Everything mentions lots of systems in her exploration of her main topic.
The Greek Pinakes. The French Great Book of Surgery was ordered “from head to heel.” Legal papers by date. There is a mention of classifying deus before angelus, though I can’t find that page at the moment.
She ranges the world, and her bibliography and chapter notes are extensive.

Thank you for the suggestions, everyone. Nothing has turned up following those leads. The closest I've come is (the amusing titled) Index, A History of the
