We have many books that belong to a series.
Is there a standardised format for naming such books as in
Series name then Title , or
Title then Series name?
For example we have:
(Series name then Title)
Wonders Of Creation. The Astronomy Book.
Wonders Of Creation. The Cave Book
Wonders Of Creation. The Ocean Book
(Title then Series name)
Space And Time. God's Creation Series Book 1.
Sky and Sea. God's Creation Series Book 2
Rocks and Plants. God's Creation Series Book 3.
Thanks.

If there is such a thing as a standard for the title field it would be that it contains a title only and not the series which has a different field for it

Thanks for your reply. We can't find a series field. Where is it please and what specifically is it called?

The series is entered on the main work page.
Starting the title with the series name is a bad idea, because the autocombiner will jumble them all up together. It only looks at the first 20 characters.

It has been created as a publishers series.

I agree on that, but the mess can be sorted out later. I just came across something similar with a version of Arabian Nights in 16 volumes. They have separate ISBN numbers, but the same title, so it's hard to blame the autocombiner :-) I'm changing the titles to Arabian Nights, volume 1 etc and separating them out, so I can review the individual volumes without having them all end up in a pile.

>5 bnielsen: Yes, but clearing the mess is extra work, and new copies will continue to be stuck into the wrong work, and need clearing up again and again.

The second series is https://www.librarything.com/nseries/127757/Gods-Creation-Series, and is a regular series.
Note that only one name should be entered in the author field, with others in the other authors field. This needs to be confirmed on the main author page. I have done that for the first book listed.

>4 MarthaJeanne: Thankyou for your response. That seems confusing to us. I guess it takes time to learn all the ins and outs.
