Unbiased accessible history of Islamic invasion of India

I have been reading Line in the Sand by James Barr, which has given me a fresh perspective on the Middle East. I am interested in learning more about the Islamic Invasion of India. However this part of history seems to be very controversial and I worry about authorial bias.

Please could I have suggestions for books on this topic that deal with the history and which strive for impartiality. I am not a historian so an accessible book like Line in the Sand would be preferred.

Looks like there might not be any unbiased books on this topic. Failing that, perhaps there are accessible books from both sides which together might give me a perspective.

Mughal Throne by Eraly might be fun, but it's a massmarket, biographies of a run of emperors by an Indian historian. They were Muslim and their subjects not. Google online reviews before splurging - I haven't read this and it's not my field.

It sounds quite anecdotal and personal rather than politics/ domestic life of subjects, a bit John Julius Norwich-y (was so frustrated by JJN's book re: France)

Having looked stuff up Aquil In the name of Allah seems relevant but potentially dry; again, check reviews and maybe try to library-loan it.

Thank you. I will check those out. It seems like a massive area of history without a lot being written about it. I'm even more interested now!
