What’s your first impression of Lieutenant Grace Billets?

I like her so far. She’s strong and knows her role. She listens to her detectives and seems to want to help rather than hinder them.

I’m guessing it won’t last. Nearly every police procedural that I read has superior officers that are bad at their job.

The fact that Bosch seems impresed by her is telling. He has history with bad bosses and his first impression of Grace is that she is willing to give the detectives time and space to solve the case.

Grace appears to have leadership ability. She has never been involved in murder investigations but solicits and uses her main detective to fill the void and his good at using the talents and skills of her staff.

She seems willing to listen, and admit it/apologise if she was in the wrong. But, for all that, she comes across as a strong personality.

I like her too and I think Bosch will work well under her leadership.

I liked her leadership style. She was supportive while still being in charge.

I also liked her. Her leadership abilities are strong, and she appears to be fair. It's still difficult though for a woman to hold a leadership position in what is not only considered a "Man's World" but also a "Good Old Boy's World".
