Hi,
I am using LibraryThing and TinyCat for a small, circulating library for my early years site.
There are not quite 1500 books in the collection.
Many of the records have dropped, but in a weird way.
My colleague and I catalogued all these books beginning in mid-August. The teachers began checking books out to students in September, and checking books back in.
The class teachers have flagged up the books that do not appear in TinyCat.
When I search for them in LibraryThing, they do not appear. Not by title, barcode (whether the letters are capitalized or not), not by author.
However, when I re-catalog them, the system says that is a duplicate ISBN, and the book is there, right down to the barcode. Then I have to delete one of the records. It's taking up a lot of time. And I don't understand why this is happening. Please help!
Many thanks for any advice or tips.

Where are you searching? In site search or your catalogue search? How many books should you have?
It is always good to know your setup. Both operating system and browser.
Next time do not delete the duplicates, but give us the URLs so we can look to see what the issue might be.
Welcome to LibraryThing. My son went to Pregny a few decades ago.

Thinking this over, I don't know why you are having this problem, but it would probably stop if you asked for your catalogue to be reindexed. Contact info for staff is found at the link at the bottom of the page.

Oooo, thank you! I will ask to have it re-indexed.
Most of the books were catalogued in a Chrome browser on a windows desktop pc.
I will take a look for some other duplicates and share their URLs.
That is so neat that you know Pregny!!!
Are you still in the Geneva area?
I've been here since 2003 which is longer ago than I'd like to think about...

"What Will I Discover?" by Tanya Lloyd Kyi, both with the barcode CDNP800148
One was cataloged in June, the other in October.

Any assistance is most welcome. These students are checking out books every week, and every week, I get photos of covers and barcodes to tell me which books are not scanning for checkout. Absolutely, some of it will be enduser error, but a lot of it, the books just aren't there until I go to catalog them again.
Thank you!!!

>5 EIG_Pregny: Hi, thanks so much for reaching out! @MarthaJeanne was totally right, this seems to have been an indexing issue. We re-indexed your catalog and it seems to be working much better now! Please let me know if you run into any other issues or have any questions!
Very best,
Zeph
