Did the three of them deserve the suspensions, and were you surprised they were held in abeyance?

Letting a prisoner escape is serious, they were needed and are good at what they do, so back to work.

They should be suspended but as >2 JohnDBurke: says, they were needed to find Powers and close the case.

In real life I don't thnk they would have had their suspensions held back The police have rules for a reason . Discipline matters.

Not sure if the "suspension" part would actually happen. as there's a lot of politics in most police departments. They would certainly be required to recapture the escapee, and they would then be severely disciplined.
