Why do you think they came out of the bank empty handed?

I think that Tony Aliso had removed the money from the bank before he was killed.

No money. That must have made them happy:)

Someone had been in before them and emptied the box and Tony seems to be the only one who could have done that.

Someone had to have got to the money before them.

I thought and expected the box to be empty. We already knew Aliso had taken Layla to the bank.
