Was Bryant’s approach to Stacey on this case right? Could she offer a perspective that could help them?

Bryant made an error in judgment, he wanted to save Stacey’s feelings. While he can’t be faulted for that in the ordinary world, the world they inhabit is completely different, they need to be able to remove themselves from personal issues.
It’s good he’s seen the light. Stacey can give a lot to this investigation, she’s proved that by doing what she’s done concerning Justin’s suicide, albeit she’s done it surreptitiously.

I think he's trying to make amends but is correct that Stacy can really help him on this case.

Stacy compared the results of white hate crimes with black hate crimes. She did have a helpful perspective that could help them.

Bryant is a mature person and perhaps more capable than Dawson of seeing clearly that their approach to Stacey has been wrong. Her unique skills and her psychological insights could be really helpful in solving these crimes.
