Why do you think Dale shot his brother?

I reckon Dale shot Brad to save him from jail. Kim was correct in thinking Dale did it out of love.

I think it was to save him from suffering in prison for the rest of his life.

Well it certainly wasn't because he condemned his actions. All three Preeces seem to be vicious racists at heart, well hidden in Bart's case until the end.
It probably is the case that Dale did not want his brother to spend the rest of his life in prison.
