I've read a few books set in Poland. if anyone likes WWII setting book that aren't all war stories you might like one that I read last year... The Keeper of Hidden Books by Madeline Martin. My best friend in 2nd grade had an uncle that married a woman from Poland when he was stationed there. We loved hearing her speak her native language and even learned a few words. My mother made me stop since I had no idea what I was saying.

Yes, i am interested. I am old enough to remember the rise of Solidarity and the inspiring leadership of Walesa. also, I have Polish neighbours. Many Poles came to live in the UK during our years in the EU and some at least have been able to stay.

I have some knowledge of the country and hope to discover more while reading this book.

Always interested in finding out about other countries. Many years ago I remember reading and enjoying reading Poland by James A Michener. A great read telling Poland’s story, but written in the early eighties.

Yes as Polish communism seemed an odd mixture of socialism and fascism. A small group controlled everyone else with all the resources while the vast majority lived in hunger and poverty.

Yes, I am interested in learning more about Poland. Many of the Holocaust survivor books I have read are set in Poland, and it is good to read about the country Herself. I so remember the hope that was Lech Wałęsa. He started a movement against all the odds.

>11 Andrew-theQM: Absolutely. He started a revolution that brought around such important change.

>12 threadnsong: We all thought he’d fail and be at danger from the Soviet authorities.
