British Legal thrillers

I have to declare an interest: this is my genre as a writer. But I was wondering how big a market there is for it and how big is the genre in the UK? We see a lot of British crime, psychological thrillers and police procedurals, and also many non-fiction books about British criminal law. But whereas the USA has the likes of John Grisham, Scott Turow, Brad Meltzer and Michael Connelly, Britain has no one with comparable sales in the legal thriller space. On the other hand we do have thriller writers who are comparable in sales, like Jeffrey Archer.

This is what an LT tagmash comes up with.

Some of those are probably not legal thrillers by the usual definition, e.g. Sarah Caudwell’s books were whodunnits with a detective who is a barrister. But it’s certainly not an unexplored genre.
