She was definitely trying to protect her husband.

I felt quite sympathetic towards her. Her loyalty was impressive and she seemed very accepting of his relationship with sonia.

Frankly I thought she was a bit "strange". She wanted to protect her husband, but she appeared to not have chosen her 'friends" very well.
