Its a new year and I have decided that my 2025 challenge is to read at least 50 books that reflect my interest in Genealogy and Family History.
Despite my absence from this group over the past few years, I have managed to beat my target of 50 books quite soundly - housebound by ill health will certainly aid in achieving substantial targets!
I'm narrowing my focus for this group and target.
I'm intending to include historic fiction based on true family histories, histories of places and times that are relevant to my research as well as the occasional 'how to'.
Cheers

1. Geraldine Brooks - Horse
Always a pleasure to read Ms Brooks' work, this book was a fascinating look into an industry and a culture about which I know very little. The format of the book: shifting the narrative through time and through different protagonist's perspectives would lend itself as a style to a well researched family history.

Extremely thoroughly researched history of the Central Victorian Goldfields experience from a variety of perspectives.

3. Harlan Corben - The Boy From The Woods.
Acquired this as a crime genre only to find it touched on DNA testing from the perspective of someone who had no discernable relatives. An interesting insight into some of the ethical dilemmas of DNA ancestry research.
