Question about previous books read

I joined this group in 2011. Does anyone who's been here longer know when it started? My spreadsheet only goes back to June 2010.

Back then, the monthly reads alternated between themes and times. In February 2012, the quarterly reads started. (I do not remember who suggested or started them, nor who started this group. I wish I had noted that on my records. Whoever you are - THANK YOU! I love this group!)

For 2016, the group voted to have our monthly reads to be "themes", since the quarterly reads were "times". So we ended up with two wikis on which to list our reads.

Back whenever it was that the big LT wiki-destroying attack happened that culminated with the new capcha boxes and people having to redo their wikis, someone here (again, thank you) restored the quarterly wiki with 2012-2015 and continued it from 2016 to now, and is the one we are currently using to list our quarterly reads.

The current monthly reads wiki only goes back to June 2022, but there is a link at the top of that wiki page to a previous RTT monthly wiki for October 2017 to May 2022. The link I saved in my spreadsheet for the original RTT monthly wiki (also the link CurrerBell shared in 2014) leads to "Access denied".

Do we no longer have records of the lists of books read from September 2017 back to whenever this group started? At least 7 years of the books we've all listed on that wiki?

It seems like a lot of work to go back and scrounge up old monthly threads to find out which books were read for the themes for those years. I have the themes listed for all the months SINCE I joined, but not for the months from the beginning of the group.

Does anyone have a working link to those missing years' wiki?

Part of my frustration in recreating the missing records is that I prefer my group threads alpha rather than most recent, so I had always starred, then red-x'd the threads I was done with, so my main RTT page would stay tidy and easy to read. If needed (and sometimes it was), I could always go down below the posts I kept active, where the "Ignored Topics" lived and find anything I needed. But since the LT powers that be decided to throw ALL my "Ignored Topics" from all my groups together into one vast wasteland, I can no longer find past information without a lot of troublesome scrolling. (Does this drive anyone else bonkers?)

>1 countrylife: 06/2010 is the first entry I have in my books.

It started as an offshoot from the 1010 challenge group which had a dedicated sub-challenge that grew up into a group: see https://www.librarything.com/topic/91490 for the discussion and eventual birth of the group.

Group was created in May 2010, the first reads in the group were for June 2010.

Also - if you go through the group pages, the old threads (except the few that were eaten the one time Talk had a bit of a data loss) are still there so you can parse the history that way and find some of the books...

>1 countrylife: I don't find a Wiki for 2010-2012 (quarterly), but I'm not sure they may have had one? I was new about that time (2011) and I don't even think I knew what a Wiki was then. However, the individual discussion pages seem to be there. I have tried several links from those discussions and they are access denied. Parts of the Wikis were "lost" when they went down for a week or so last October or November.

>4 Tess_W: The format of the wiki addresses changed so even if the old links don’t work, they may be convertible using the new format - so the pages may still be there.

>1 countrylife: Hi Cindy, The Reading Through Time Group was originally organized by cmbohn, another Cindy, over at the Category Challenge, a number of us who loved historical fiction decided to do a monthly historical fiction challenge. Originally we switched back and forth between time periods and subjects, voting on the outcome. The first thread went up in June 2010. We didn't have Wikis until they were introduced to Library Thing but I think the first Wikis went up in 2017 and were done by Majkia, who also hosted the Quarterly Dated Reads which were introduced in January 2017, at the same time we changed our format to volunteer monthly hosts who introduced our subject for the month. I don't believe cmbohn is active on LT anymore and I don't remember when I took over as administrator, but I believe it was in late 2016 or early 2017.

Thank you everyone! That is exactly the information I needed. And I've found what I was looking for!

I see from your post on the topics of Reading Though Time that my memory and dates aren't accurate. Thanks for all your research!
