I'm looking for either (1) reader's theater scripts from online or an anthology or (2) an engaging novel in which a chapter could be easily turned into a script. The readers will be 11-13 year olds (middle school). Any genre, number of parts, or topic, but it needs to take under 45 minutes to read. Any recommendations will help! Thanks!

Already a script: Grandpa and the Statue by Arthur Miller, Monsters Are Due on Maple Street by Rod Serling (those might take longer than 45 min though). Sorry Wrong Number is definitely more than 45min but we do an excerpt sometimes that is shorter. You get the idea from the first couple pages.
Engaging short stories to turn into a script: Thank You Ma'am by Langston Hughes, Fog Horn by Ray Bradbury, The Landlady by Roald Dahl
Novels: Holes by Louis Sachar, One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus
Plays you could take an excerpt from: Miracle Worker by William Gibson, Diary of Anne Frank by Albert Hackett and Frances Goodrich
