I’m still here! (No, l haven’t seen the movie yet)
Just finished Miracle Creek and I’m looking around for the next book.
I have finally gotten all my books unpacked and on the shelves. I have too many waiting to be read so l think l will READ MY OWN BOOKS for the rest of March!
I might start with The Wild Robot.

In ... and feeling some deadline pressure with 3 upcoming book group meetings, so HAVE to focus and finish some books this weekend! Gonna be reading/reviewing:
Autonomous
The Wager - read last year, so going to review more than read
The Trees
Also have an Early Reviewer book, Incredible Stories at the Bus Stop: A Flash Fiction Collection on Human Experience I want to get to and Nightlines I'd like to pass to a family member next weekend, assuming I can finish it this week. Are there enough hours???

I'm hoping to keep reading now that I'm back on track.
I still have about half of Watership Down the graphic novel to complete. I have enjoyed what I have read so far, it looks like it's pretty close to the original.
I'm not up to committing to a long novel yet.

I am also feeling that kind of pressure. I have clearly over-extended my book commitments! I need a nice long weekend of reading.

Friday night startup
Books read from: Fortune's Rocks by Anita Shreve is mostly on hold for now, but I am reading at least 2 pages a day in Schulz and Peanuts by David Michaelis. My computer book is Eating My Way Through Italy by Elizabeth Minchilli. I am reading book 3 in the Balkan Trilogy, Friends and Heroes by Olivia Manning and finished the second book Spoilt City in the trilogy this week. I am listening to Bookish Life of Nina Hill by Abbi Waxman and have put 1776 by David McCullough on hold until I finish listening to the other book.
Books finished: Spoilt City by Olivia Manning
Book Thoughts: I am really getting into the third book in the Balkan Trilogy. It is clear that this is a trilogy about a marriage set within the framework of the first years of WWII. It is most definitely a literary work and it has taken nearly 700 pages to set up the world crisis as well as the marriage crisis in this series. I am going to dig around and find the next three books in the trilogy and read them as soon as possible. I have over committed myself to too many book clubs. I don't like the books that the local book club is reading and so will probably skip this one. It meets on Wednesday night for supper at a local pub and discussion. But it is my first meeting so perhaps I will go to see how they discuss books.
Non-Book Activities: My part time job is interfering with my book reading. In fact, it is interfering with most of my life. However, I need the extra cash and as soon as my moving expenses are paid off, I think I will ditch the job. We will see. I might get addicted to the extra cash.
Reading Time Today: 1 hours
Time Reading this weekend: 1 hours
Time listening:
Time posting:
Food: I had a nice sandwich for supper and a really good hot tea this evening.
Total books finished since the Read-A-Thon Began: 492
Total Time Reading since the Social Distancing read-a-thon began: 1528 hours since I started doing the weekend Read-A-Thon starting in April of 2020.

A wee update Saturday morning...
Almost finished with the first book, Autonomous, which is good because the group meets at 2! Got in about 3h last night and was mostly able to focus. I'm not a fast reader and tend to have shpilkes...
Also have a weekend project I'd forgotten about, conveniently, but despite ignoring it, here it comes: my son's storage Pod arrives today and we have till Monday to empty it. I'm definitely going to be getting that step count higher! But with 3 adults, hopefully this will not become such a time-sucker that my intended reading gets deprioritized. Fingers crossed...

Book Thoughts: I am about to finish reading book 3 in the Balkan Trilogy. I hope to finish it tomorrow before my real life book discussion group meets.

>12 nrmay: Okay, I want to eat at your house.
Now to hunt down some Girl scouts ...
I've come online to confess I've been a terrible, no-good, awful reader today and although I still hope to get in an hour tonight, I can only encourage all of you to do better than I have. Afterall, it would be hard not to!
My "final" results for this weekend:
Books read from: 3 - Autonomous, Nightlines, and The Wager (a re-read for me)
Books finished: Autonomous
Time reading: ~3h Fri, ~2.5 Sat, and ~1.25 Sun
Snacks: Spousal unit's brownies. He's looking for ways to use the Whole Wheat flour we accidentally over-purchased. Turns out brownies are really good with whole wheat flour: they didn't char at the edges and were sort equally fudgy all the way through without being slightly under-cooked towards the center. I showed my approval by eating enough to gain 10 lbs. (not really, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it).
Thoughts: Everything about taxes is aggravating. The deer constantly pulling apart a piece of damaged fence is also starting to annoy me. But then I look at the dainty little crocii popping open and think, hmm. Life is pretty good really. And there are brownies. (And Girl Scouts)
Non-book activities: Best things were a letter from a BFF and the local library's Sci Fi bookgroup, but the sunshine's been pretty awesome too.
Total books finished: 1 - Autonomous
Total read from: 3
Total time reading: ~6.75h

Books finished: Spoilt City by Olivia Manning
Book Thoughts: It was a miserable reading day. I did not finish reading book 3 in the Balkan Trilogy. Instead I took a nap and then almost missed my real life book discussion group on Zoom. I had no internet at home. I am disgusted with the company because the reason I got internet in my house was so that I could do Zoom meetings. If I still have to pack up the laptop and drive down to the church to do a Zoom meeting, what is the sense of having internet? You can believe that I will be on the phone tomorrow telling the provider about the problem.
Non-Book Activities: Church and a nap. No cooking done, and I was going to try to mix up the dough for a King Cake, even though you shouldn't eat a King Cake after Mardi Gras.
