I'm looking for books that include "murder and a little bit of romance" that are appropriate for an 11 year-old (those were her exact words). She likesOne of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus, but that book is for teens. She's at a high school reading level, but I don't feel comfortable recommending books that might be too mature. Any ideas?

An adolescent crime team is recruited by the FBI to help solve cases.
T.O.A.S.T. Mysteries
The little bit of romance is the adults, and it is very little. Well enough written to please my very particular standards.

The Murder Most Unladylike mystery series by Robin Stevens, known in the U.S. as the Wells and Wong series.

Was going to rec the Robin Stevens murder most unladylike. It's very popular with tweens and whenever a new one came out in the series we had girls hopping up and down in the building pestering their mums to get it.
Also, there's a girl power series of books by Ally Carter starting with I'd tell you I love you but then I'd have to kill you about an American girls private school churning out James bond type spies. It's funny, it has a strong friendship theme, and there's some romance and a lot of melodrama and swashbuckle.

What about cosy crime by the way? Daughter of Time blew my mind because it was the 1st time I realised history wasn't immutable factoids but a continually re evaluated story - it's a nice accessible account about the princes in the tower mystery. The hospitalised cop at the centre is a bit of a personality-free stick man, but the book survives that.
There's a series by Suzette Hill starting with A Load of Old Bones about a vicar whose guiding impulse is respectability rather than ethics so when he murders, his concern is what will the neighbours think. His cat (supercilious) and dog (keen but gormless) reluctantly manipulate events so that their life as pets is not disrupted. It's rather amoral in mood now that I think about it, and not romantic, but funny.

I would not give an 11-year-old the Naturals series (by Jennifer Lynn Barnes). It's pretty gruesome. I'd wait for high school for that one.
It's a great age to get really into Agatha Christie or Zilpha Keatley Snyder or Diana Wynne Jones.

Maybe Enola Holmes? I'll also second the suggestions for A Murder Most Unladylike.
