Library of Weird Fiction: Algernon Blackwood is back

Not only is it back but it has been expanded into a two volume set! I think Jerad has it set up so only current newsletter subscribers can order this week, at $130, and then starting next week anyone can order one or both volumes at $70 each.

When I first started buying Centipede Press books the original had just gone out of print and aftermarket prices started around $700 or so.

Tempting. Is the original edition now Volume 1, or has the original selection been split across the two new volumes?

>2 elenchus: From the mail from this morning: “This new two volume set includes the original volume one (with a bonus story), and a second volume of more short stories and novellas. There are also a handful of archival illustrations in the books, too. This two volume set is over 1,700 pages. The dustjackets and title pages for both books reflect this, with “volume one” added to the dustjacket, title page, and copyright page of volume one.”

Now looking wistfully at my bank account balance.

Did anyone else order this and get the Pussy Plays Again album tacked onto it for $6.00?

>5 ultrarightist:
I ordered a set but nothing additional was thrown in. That sounds like an accidental scratch-n-dent page addition.

Also, for me at least, shipping added $9.

>5 ultrarightist: If you added it to your cart before (by mistake or not) from the same laptop/device, it probably had been already just sitting there when you added this one. I’ve done that before with other books from Centipede so I tend to double check what is in there before I go for the checkout.

Wow, I was not expecting all of these to sell out so fast. Yesterday’s newsletter basically said all that were left were copies of the second volume to entice those who only had the original first.

It's definitely fulfilling a want. With Nepenthe Press's forthcoming Blackwood edition, and a future volume(s) of Conversation Tree Press's Weird series dedicated to Blackwood, he is finally getting the quality/fine press treatment he deserves as an author.

My set arrived today. Volume one shrink-wrapped. Volume two loose-plastic sleeved. Curious difference but both look great. Lots of weird tales, and that's what counts.
