Kerri's "Less is More" endeavour

It's time to downsize! Once upon a time I wanted a huge room with wall to wall shelves, but I now I feel more appreciative of my books when I focus on only keeping my favorites.
I've been using PaperBackSwap to trade books out for several years to help keep the number down.

Now it's time for a deeper cut!

Total books starting out: 549

Keeping: 209

TBR shelf: 103 (I’ve already removed so many books that have been collecting dust for yearssss, but I may whittle it down more)

Undecided on 102

And definitely getting rid of 135! (2 plastic tubs filled to the brim)

I am also tackling my father's collection. He passed away 3 years ago and I am still working on selling and giving away his 2,500+ books. I currently have around 500 of his books set aside to keep, but I'm trying to bring that number down.

Question for everyone: How many physical books would you keep in a series?

I have several long series that I've been collecting over the years, but recently I've been reading more e-books from Libby instead. I want to keep a few of the first volumes in each of my favorite series, but I can't make up mind between 2, 3 or 4.

>2 Ciarda: Ha! I’m a compleatist. And I’ve recently been plumping up my daughters’ collections too.

Welcome to the group and I wish you well in your mission.

I'm with 2wonderY. If I decide to reread a series, I want them all right here. I think I would feel that way even if they were available at the library. It's very frustrating to have to wair because someone else has a book out.

Welcome to the group.

I like keeping my favorite from a series -- so, 1 or 2. Having said that, I have hardly any fiction that I've read still on my shelves.
