Rosie’s Random Reading

Hi! I’ve been in the Green Dragon for a bit and thought it was time for me to stop lurking and actually post something!

As of right now I’m almost done reading Jade Fire Gold and I just started Darker by Four. It’s actually been on my tbr for a while now and I finally got around to it!

I just finished Iron Flame and that ending!!!!! I won’t spoil it but I wanted to throw the book across the room!! (Honestly what was I expecting? Peace and happiness?) As soon as I can I’m going to read Onyx Storm and probably start sobbing if anything happens to Ridoc.

And thank you all for the warm welcome!!

I’m going to try to finish East sometime this week ish because I keep starting it and getting distracted by new books.😅 Then maybe I’ll get round to the rest of my tbr! (It’s over 300 books at this point and I keep putting off cleaning it out any) Wish me luck!

>9 Rosie18: Well, I will be interested in your assessment of East because I do like reworking of fairy tales. This is the first I've heard of this one. Happy new thread!

>11 jillmwo: Thank you! I’m about 3/4 of the way through East and so far it’s really good!

I just finished Ash Princess yesterday and thought that it was pretty good. I didn’t realize it was part of a series, so I guess I accidentally grew my tbr! 😂

I finished rereading Heart of Ice and I’m reminded why I love K.M. Shea’s books. I think Phile was my favorite character with her funny comments!

Sometime in the next couple days I’m going to try and go through my tbr and either pick books to read or get rid of books that no longer sound interesting. (Read: stare at the tbr for a bit and then start rereading a book for the 463rd time)

>12 Rosie18: Nothing new in the TBR pile that interests you? I can't talk, I just looked at mine, then went to the shelf to get Downbelow Station.

I keep saying I’ll read something from the tbr and then get distracted by another book! I’m like a magpie that ends up distracted by the next shiny thing!

So. I may have gotten distracted from East (again). But I started rereading Wilting Captive! I usually don’t go for Beauty and the Beast retellings, but I love this one! This is one of my favorite quotes:

“Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a beast to save and a fiancé to murder.”

Reminds me of Prince Humperdinck - "Tyrone, you know how much I love watching you work, but I've got my country's 500th anniversary to plan, my wedding to arrange, my wife to murder and Guilder to frame for it; I'm swamped."

Princess Bride - Humperdinck perfectly played by the dreamy Chris Sarandon.

Okay, so the past few weeks have been utter chaos and I got seriously distracted from my tbr! I binged pretty much all of Kerry Hamm’s books and began rereading a lot of K.M. Shea’s books as well. I finished reading Forged Gold and I loved it! ❤️

I just now realized how many books on my shelf I said I’ll read but haven’t yet! 😆

I just finished rereading Because of Mr. Terupt and I remember why I love it so much! I’m going to try to finish the rest of the series if I don’t get distracted again. Wish me luck!

Distraction has undermined many of my reading plans so I gave up planning my reading. :-)

Wishing you the best of luck avoiding the distractions.

I’ve returned! Okay, life’s been a bit chaotic these past few months and I’ve been distracted from my tbr list yet again! Honestly why am I surprised at this point? 😆

So I just finished rereading Serpent’s Shadow and The Twelve Dancing Princesses by K.M. Shea, and currently I’m reading The Mark of Athena. I’m going to try and read some of my new books, Sarah, Plain and Tall and Hurt Go Happy. I read Hurt Go Happy a few years ago, but it’s been awhile so I don’t remember all the details. I do remember that it hurt in the best way! I won’t say anymore than that so I don’t spoil!

Okay, how big are y’all’s TBRs? Mine’s about 200 on LibraryThing, about 600 on Libby, and another 100 or so on Kindle. Then again, I just add a bunch of books that look interesting and never go back and take off books that no longer interest me or anything like that. It’s become a huge monster over the past few years!

Hope y’all have an amazing day! ☀️

>22 Rosie18: Happy reading! I wish you a wonderful day 🫶

My digital tbr is around 150. Then there are all the unread books on my Kindle and on my book shelf. I don't feel like counting those right now, in case of panic 😆

Glad to see you are back and getting some reading done.

You are lucky that your TBR is only in three digits. I will say no more. :-)

>22 Rosie18: Sarah Plain and Tall is a wonderful book! I hope you enjoy it!

I am in denial about the size of my physical and virtual TBR piles!
