The persnickety centaur stabbed the snake-bird with disdain.

The fantasy book cover equivalent of a jump-scare. Boo!

That's not a centaur, it's a eunuch-corn!

Hm. Eunuch-corn doesn't seem to be trying to stab the winged venomous snake, so maybe he's just posing with one of his pets.

Also, I can just hear the sound effects for the spear - "poink! poink!"

Perhaps he will use the spear to dislodge his arm band / leg band / hock band.

I don't see a small child but I do foresee the end of sleep after looking at this.

Eunuch-corn isn't stabbing anywhere near that thing. Snake needs to turn around and grab one of those spindly legs. Cover obviously posed by models.

Maybe snake is just photobombing the poncy poser failing to look macho. I can almost hear it saying "WAZZUP!"

I may have read this a long time ago: I think it had to do with the mass subconscious or some such rot?

(I suppose Centaurs are then one of the fundamental dream archetypes, like snakes and showing up for the yam festival and realizing you're not wearing your penis sheath.)
