I will be participating this weekend, even though I am traveling. I suspect that since I am traveling I will be much more on-time with my updates to the thread than I am in everyday life. I can't believe how active I am in a town with 93 residents and a county with a total population of 4,500. My life has become nonstop.

I'm in too! My weekend had a bad start as the trains are at a complete standstill and I need to get to work. Hopefully they'll get started again so I can at least be there at lunchtime. Otherwise we're going to the summerhouse for the weekend to get it ready for summer (mostly cleaning and re-stocking fridge and pantry). Will hopefully get plenty of reading time in as I still need to make a big dint in The Faerie Queene and also want to get started on The Leopard.

I am traveling this weekend as well but I am not going to participate (again) as my time will be limited. I am trying to visit with Linda as much as I can before I head home tomorrow.
I hope everyone has a wonderful reading weekend!

Friday startup
Books read from: My continuous reading book is Queen Lucia by E. F. Benson. My computer book is still Eating My Way Through Italy by Elizabeth Minchilli. I started reading Sisterhood: The Secret History of Women At the CIA by Liza Mundy. I am listening to Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman. I finished A Grave in the Woods by Martin Walker, Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens, and Traveling With Pomegranates by Sue Monk Kidd.
Books finished: A Grave in the Woods by Martin Walker. Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. Traveling With Pomegranates by Sue Monk Kidd
Book Thoughts: I on the road, traveling to Montana for my niece's wedding. Tonight I am in the heart of Longmire country - Buffalo, Wyoming. It has been a good reading trip. I have been able to listen to recorded books for long stretches of time. That has been much easier on my mind than has the news. I really enjoyed Where the Crawdads Sing even though it seems like just another abandoned child YA novel, with twists. I have to wonder if the men in her life would have thought so highly of her if she were not "gorgeous?" I also liked Traveling With Pomegranates. It reminded me a great deal of Saint Everywhere which I read back in 2023. I love thoughtful travel and Pomegranates was that kind of travel.
Non-Book Activities: It will be a weekend of family events and that is good. That means that I will have less time to concentrate on what that Orange Gasbag is doing next. Winnipeg is looking better and better as a place to move.
Reading Time Today: 7 hours of listening time
Time Reading this weekend: 7 hours
Time listening:
Time posting:
Food: biscuits and gravy at the Just Love Coffee shop in Chadron, NE. They were delicious. Ham and cheese croissant for supper in Buffalo, Wy that was ho hum.

Total Time Reading since the Social Distancing read-a-thon began: 1584 hours since I started doing the weekend Read-A-Thon starting in April of 2020.

I'm in again - currently reading Killer of Kings by Matthew Harffy and The Unreal and the Real by Ursula K. Le Guin.

In: was driving home last night/this morning and was kept quite wide awake while listening to No Country for Old Men, so I'll be finishing that one up (but now during daylight hours). I have several other audiobooks I could start (saw the nice review of Theft by Abdulrazak Gurnah in this morning's WashPo, and so snagged it) but also have some open ones and "books foisted on me" (i.e., friends insist I share their joy in the book), so I'd best get to those. Also have 3 library books I'd like to get to ... how many hours do I have???
@ChrisG1: what do you think of the LeGuin title so far?

Monday morning re-cap:
Books read from:
- Three Miles Down: A Novel - fun tie-ins to real life events
- The Silver Bone: A Novel (Samson Kolechko Investigates, Book 1) - very steeped in the cultural traditions of storytelling of this region - very enjoyable to be taken for the ride
- No Ordinary Joes: The Extraordinary True Story of Four Submariners in War and Love and Life - not what I was expecting but I got through the difficult bit and am better for knowing
- Unnatural Death: A Scarpetta Novel (Kay Scarpetta) - I'm less fond of this one as there's too much repetition
Books finished: none
non-reading activities: had a meeting with the local library's SciFi bookclub (for Noor, which I read last weekend), and continue to enjoy being exposed to the variety of work the moderator/reading advisor selects for us.

Book Thoughts: It was not a great reading weekend, but that was to be expected. I missed a book signing that I would have liked to attend. The Country Bookshelf in Bozeman, MT hosted Craig Johnson, the author of the Longmire books. Johnson's new Longmire book was released on May 27, Return to Sender and he was in town to promote it. I didn't find out about it until Saturday night, but I would have made it a point to attend had I known he was there. I am enjoying listening to Invisible Library while driving around Bozeman. This is a fun fantasy. I am glad that Joe reminded me of it.
Non-Book Activities: The wedding was interrupted by rain. (it was an outdoor wedding) and it lasted far too long into the evening, but it was as fun as weddings could be. I got to see friends and relatives that I haven't seen for a long time and I always enjoy that. Today my sister and I are going to a hot springs to soak in the waters. Tomorrow I will be driving through rain and thunderstorms all day. Today we are breakfasting at Feed. This is a local institution in Bozeman. I love this place.
